What is Wörds?
Wörds is a German-language word game for iOS and Android, built like a roguelike. From eight letter creatures, the Wortlinge, you build German words of 3 to 8 letters, earn points and coins and grow your team between rounds. A run has 15 rounds in five chapters, and each chapter ends with a boss that has its own rule. The normal run and the Daily, a shared run every day, are free, Pro is a one-time purchase. There are no ads, no subscription and no account.
How it plays
Play words
You hold eight letter creatures. Build a word with 3 to 8 letters from them. Every word earns points and coins, and longer, smarter words count for more. Reach the round's target before your plays run out.
Grow your creatures
Between rounds you visit the shop: eggs with new creatures, treats, training and length cards. Creatures gain experience, level up and learn abilities. A length card makes one word length stronger for the whole run.
Beat the bosses
A run has five chapters with three rounds each, from the meadow to the stars. The third round of every chapter is a boss with its own rule. There are nine bosses, and every run shuffles them.
A few of the rules the bosses throw at you:
- Only words of 5 letters or more
- At most 2 vowels
- No letter twice
- Face-down letters
- One play fewer, only one swap
Wortlinge: letters with abilities
Every letter in your team is a named creature, a Wortling. It gains experience, levels up and learns an ability. Abilities come in several kinds:
Points
Some abilities add extra points to your word.
Multiplier
Some make the whole word count for more.
Teamwork
Some get stronger when other letters are in the word.
Growth
Some improve every time you use them.
Special rules
Some bend the rules, for example when playing or while held in your hand.
The creatures on your team decide which words are worth playing.

Once a day everyone plays with the same letters. Play your best word, share your result with friends and keep your streak alive.

Balatro was an inspiration: you build your team between rounds and the targets get harder. Wörds is its own game, with letters, German words and Wortlinge instead of cards.
